Speakers Bios
Dr, Campbell R. Harvey
Campbell R. Harvey is the J. Paul
Sticht Professor of International Business at the Fuqua School of Business,
Duke University and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic
Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is also Editor of The Journal of
Finance.
Professor Harvey obtained his
doctorate at the University of Chicago in business finance. He has served on
the faculties of the Stockholm School of Economics, the Helsinki School of
Economics, and the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.
He has also been a visiting scholar at the Board of Governors of the Federal
Reserve System. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Svenska
Handelshögskolan in Helsinki.
Harvey received the
2007 Graham and Dodd Award for the best paper published in the Financial
Analysts Journal.
He has also received five Graham and Dodd Scrolls for excellence in financial
writing from the CFA Institute and three Roger F. Murray Prizes from the
Institute for Research in Quantitative Finance (Q-Group). He has published
over 100 scholarly articles on the implications of changing risk and the
dynamics of risk premiums for tactical asset allocation in international
settings.
Harvey is an
internationally recognized expert in portfolio management, asset allocation,
the cost of capital, and global risk management. He has served or still
serves as a consultant or principal to some of the worlds leading asset
management and consulting firms. He currently works with GLG Partners, Inc.,
Smith Breeden Associates, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Harvey is the Editor of The
Journal of Finance
the leading scientific journal in his field and one of the premier
journals in the economic profession through 2012. He is the past-President of
the Western Finance Association and serves on both the Board of Directors and
the Executive Committee of the American Finance Association.
Harvey is a content pioneer
on the Internet. In 2001, he successfully conducted the first live Webcast of
his Global Asset Allocation and Stock Selection course. His website was
recently named one of the Best of The Web in Forbes Magazine. His
hypertextual financial glossary is used by The New York Times, Forbes, Bloomberg,
The Washington Post, CNNMoney and Yahoo to name a few of the sites. The
glossary, which is the most comprehensive in the world, contains over 8,000
terms and over 18,000 internal links. The book version of the glossary, The
New York Times Dictionary of Money and Investing (coauthored with Pulitzer Prize winner,
Gretchen Morgenson) was published in 2002.
Dr. Wendy Weizhi Yin
Dr.
Yin is a visiting scholar at School of
Journalism and Mass Communication, University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. Her research interest is in media ethics. She earned her PhD in Mass
Communication and Master of Journalism at Renmin University of China. Her
undergraduate studies in Chinese Literature were conducted at College of Art
and Science of Beijing Union University. She has served on the faculties of
China University of Political Science and Law and received an Excellent
Teacher award. She also worked as a TV program Editor at Channel 10 of China
Central Television (CCTV) and as a journalist at Beijing Evening News..
Dr. Yin published several articles on ethics in the
Journal of International Communication, the Journal of Chinese Journalist,
the Shanghai Journalism Review, the Prosecutorial View, and TV Research.

the NCCBA
The mission of the NCCBA is to become the premier
nonprofit organization representing and promoting the interests of the North
Carolina Chinese business community and those in North Carolina doing
business with China. The NCCBA serves its members through networking

Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for a few
interested men and women to help us meet our organizational goals. Below is
our current list of vacancies. For more information or to submit an

Event Coordinator
An event coordinator is needed to help organize NCCBA (approximately,
bi-monthly) events. Events include speeches by leaders in business and
education, social and networking events, and hosting visitors from China.
Experience with event coordination is desired but not required. If needed,
training will be provided. Applicants must be professional and business
friendly. This position will require about five hours of work per month, but initially
may require more.
Newsletter Editor
NCCBA is starting a newsletter and seeks an editor to help get this project
off the ground. Tasks include planning newsletter content, writing articles, and
coordinating and editing articles submitted by others. Applicants must be
fluent in English and have good writing skills. Experience with editing or
publishing a newsletter is a plus but not required. This position requires
about five hours of work per month, but initially may require more.
Webmaster/Software Programmer
A webmaster is needed to maintain the NCCBA website
at http://www.nc-cba.org. Tasks include
updating site content, troubleshooting and adding enhancements and new
features to the website. Applicants must have experience with PHP, HTML,
JavaScript and Dreamweaver. This position will require about five hours of
work per month, but initially may require more.
Translator
Volunteers are needed to translate press releases
and articles from English to Chinese. Press releases are done approximately
every two weeks. Applicants must be fluent in Chinese and English. This
position requires about five hours of work per month, but initially may
require more.
Event Catering Specialist
Several catering specialists are needed to help cook
and deliver lunch/dinner for NCCBA events held approximately four to six
times each year. This position requires about ten hours of work per event.
